“Business, sports and fraud: compliance and risk management.”

General reporters: Simone Gambuto, Sebastian Janka and Anouk Rosielle and Matthew Fidler

The Antitrust Commission and Litigation Commission invite you to take part in a jointly organised working session on recent developments in private enforcement of competition law. Civil law actions brought by parties claiming damages as a result of infringements of competition law are on the rise and practitioners and national courts are finding their feet in facilitating in these specific proceedings. With the new Damages Directive of 2014 in the process of being implemented in the different EU Member States, during the session attention will be paid to the current and future effects of the Damages Directive on the practices of the national Member States’ courts. A further focus will be the developments taking place in other jurisdictions not governed by the Damages Directive, both those where competition law claims are often brought and those jurisdictions where competition law claims are still unchartered territory. We have selected an interesting group of very skilled and experienced speakers to talk you through the latest developments and current challenges in litigating competition law claims, from practitioners to judges and economists. As a result, we hope the working session will leave you with practical insights and useful tips.
